According to a new report from Code Sports, Oklahoma City Thunder wing Josh Giddey’s alleged encounter with an underage girl happened two years ago and lasted only one night.

Giddey believed that the teenage girl from California was 19 years old when he met her at a nightclub back in the year 2021, according to sources who spoke to Code Sports.

The New York Post has identified the whereabouts of the Oklahoma City nightclub, and it reportedly has a policy of admitting people over the age of 18.

According to sources who spoke to Code Sports, Giddey ended the relationship with the girl the following day after finding out that she was younger than 18.

The age of consent in Oklahoma is 16 while the age of consent in California is 18.

“The Post has seen evidence that appears to confirm the girl in the pictures is still a high school student who would have been under 18 years of age in 2021,” Marjorie Hernandez wrote. “She has not been publicly identified and has not spoken publicly since the alleged relationship was exposed last week.

“Reps for Giddey declined to comment when contacted on Friday. However, he remains under investigation by the Newport Beach Police Department in California and the NBA over allegations he had an inappropriate relationship with a minor.

“Adding to the mystery, Newport Beach police reports obtained by The Post show he was pulled over in the neighborhood twice in two days in 2022.

“Reports obtained by The Post show Giddey was pulled over on July 17 and July 21 and ticketed for failure to display two license plates on his vehicle and ‘Failure to possess a transponder on vehicle or pay by plate payment.’

“His reps did not respond when asked what he was doing in Newport Beach at the time, but he played in a game against the Golden State Warriors on July 15 in Las Vegas.”

In 18 games played with the Thunder so far during the 2023-24 regular season, Giddey is averaging 12.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game (all of which are career-lows) while shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 30.6 percent from behind the 3-point line.

In the team’s most recent game — a matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers on Nov. 30 — he dropped 14 points, eight rebounds, one assist and one steal while shooting 5-of-10 from the field in 21 minutes of playing time. Giddey and the Thunder went on to beat the Lakers by 23 points to pick up their 12th win of the season.

At 12-6, the Thunder currently own the third-best record in the Western Conference, behind only the Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets. Oklahoma City has fared particularly well on the road this season, as the Thunder have a 6-2 road record compared to a 6-4 home record.

It will be interesting to see how this story with Giddey evolves in the coming days and weeks, as it’s possible that even more details will become known to the public.

Giddey and the Thunder will face off against the Dallas Mavericks — who own an 11-7 record — on Saturday with the hope of earning their second win in a row.
