Report: Orlando Magic ‘having conversations’ about trading Aaron Gordon

The Orlando Magic have had conversations about potentially trading Aaron Gordon, according to The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor.

Orlando, who was the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference last season, could move on from Gordon with two years left on his contract.

“Aaron Gordon is another guy that, I feel like this has been reported already, but Orlando is having conversations about trading him,” O’Connor said on The Mismatch podcast. “We’ll see what happens with [Evan] Fournier, too. There could be a lot of movement with Orlando.”

Gordon, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, has been a solid player in his career, but he never blossomed into a star.

Last season, Gordon averaged 14.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

While those aren’t bad numbers, Gordon is making a large chunk of money, and it may help Orlando get his contract off the books.

The Magic certainly could find a less pricey option to fill Gordon’s void.

He is not an elite 3-point shooter, as he shot 30.8 percent from beyond the arc last season and is just a 31.9 percent shooter from deep for his career.

While Gordon has made a name for himself in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, he hasn’t been able to translate it to becoming a No. 1 option on a winning team.
