Legendary NBA big man Shaquille O’Neal has a well-recorded history of being quite the ladies’ man, and he offered a story to back up that reputation during a recent episode of his own podcast.
“On my birthday, when I was playing with the Orlando Magic, I get a knock on the door,” O’Neal began when talking about fans going to inappropriate lengths with him. “… Knocked on the door, and I opened the door and this lady had on a trench coat. She’s like, ‘I’m your birthday present.’ She just dropped the coat and was butt-a– naked. … Oh, I slammed the door.
“If you gon’ send something, let me know you gon’ send it. I ain’t get the call that I was getting something sent up, just showed up in a trench coat, was fine though. I opened the door, and she was like, ‘Happy birthday, Diesel.’ I was like, ‘What is this?’ She said, ‘Oh, this is your birthday present.’ I was like, ‘Nah, I’m good.'”
O’Neal is always good for a hilarious story or two during his podcast episodes, and this memory certainly fits that bill. O’Neal entered the NBA in 1992 and enjoyed over a decade of complete dominance during that time.
From his first season to the 2006-07 campaign, O’Neal only missed one All-Star Game. He finished his career as a four-time NBA champion, two-time scoring champ and three-time Finals MVP.
He’s gone on to enjoy an incredibly successful career as a sports analyst and entertainer as well.
In recent years, fans have seen a side of O’Neal that they rarely saw during his playing days. Following the tragic passing of his former teammate and friend Kobe Bryant, O’Neal displayed incredible levels of honestly and vulnerability with fans. He was grieving the loss of his friend, and he was not ashamed to let the world know.
In a lot of ways, that endeared O’Neal to the basketball world even more. His ability to connect with fans on such a personal level only enhanced his reputation beyond his achievement on the basketball court.
His podcast titled “The Big Podcast with Shaq” is one of his latest entertainment ventures. The first episode was posted to YouTube just four months ago.
Since then, he’s had guests on like Miami Heat legend Udonis Haslem, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins and many more.
