A fan on Twitter recently threw some shade at Evan Turner by implying that the Philadelphia 76ers made the wrong choice by taking him with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.
The fan seemingly wanted the Sixers to draft Paul George instead. Turner clapped back with a funny response.
George didn’t end up getting picked in the 2010 draft until the No. 10 overall selection. Out of all the players in that year’s draft class, he has had one of the best careers.
Over 11 seasons in the NBA, the veteran has averages of 20.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. He has been named to seven All-Star teams. He’s still active today.
Turner, meanwhile, had a solid career himself, but it’s not comparable to George’s. Turner retired from basketball after the 2019-20 season. He finished his career with averages of 9.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
He was certainly a decent player, but he didn’t exactly live up to the hype of being a No. 2 overall pick. Fortunately, it seems like he maintains a good sense of humor about the situation.
