Report: Philadelphia 76ers expressing interest in trading for Buddy Hield

After coming one shot away from the Eastern Conference finals last year, the Philadelphia 76ers fell well short of expectations this season. As a result of failed expectations, drastic roster changes may be on the horizon.

The 76ers have already parted ways with head coach Brett Brown and could be on the verge of tweaking the roster with an influx of talent. One player Philadelphia may target during the NBA offseason is sharpshooter Buddy Hield.

It remains to be seen whether Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons can coexist in Philadelphia. The two All-Stars are among the elite players at their positions, but they haven’t put it together.

Next season could be their last together as a duo if the 76ers front office can’t surround them with the talent to be successful.

Hield would be an interesting addition for Philadelphia. He’d be able to stretch the floor for the 76ers and provide the team with another scorer, but the 27-year-old may still not be enough for this team to get the best of teams in the Eastern Conference like the Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat, Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors.

After averaging a career-high 20.7 points per game while shooting 42.7 percent from beyond the arc during the 2018-19 NBA season, Hield saw his numbers dip slightly this season. He averaged 19.2 points per game for the Sacramento Kings and shot 39.4 percent from deep.
