Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons reportedly spoke with the team on Friday and took some responsibility for the situation at hand.
He reportedly added that he’s still “not mentally ready” to take the floor.
This seems like a big development, as the three-time All-Star had reportedly been ignoring most people at Philadelphia’s facility. It seems like Simmons might be willing to get things moving in the right direction now.
It remains to be seen how long Simmons will need to overcome these mental barriers, but the Sixers are surely hoping to see him on the floor sooner than later.
If and when Simmons does return to game action, the Sixers will get a big boost. The former first-round pick has career averages of 15.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.7 assists per contest.
Philadelphia got a win in its season opener earlier this week. The team is hoping to contend for an NBA title this season.
