Report: Spencer Dinwiddie linked to Philadelphia 76ers ahead of NBA trade deadline

The Philadelphia 76ers reportedly may have their eyes on Spencer Dinwiddie of the Brooklyn Nets as the NBA trade deadline approaches.

The 76ers could be looking to make a move to keep up in the competitive and active Eastern Conference. The New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers already have made significant trades with the deadline coming up early next month, and the Milwaukee Bucks recently fired their head coach.

Philadelphia is in third place in the conference with a 29-14 record heading into NBA action on Saturday. The 76ers are behind the Boston Celtics and Bucks, who recently parted ways with first-year head coach Adrian Griffin and are replacing him with Doc Rivers.

In addition, the Knicks added O.G. Anunoby while the Pacers acquired Pascal Siakam in separate trades with the Toronto Raptors.

The 76ers continue to be led by Joel Embiid, who recently scored 70 points in a win against the San Antonio Spurs. The big man is leading the NBA with 36.0 points per game.

Tyrese Maxey also has been playing well for Philadelphia, which may look to use Dinwiddie to add more scoring. He is averaging just 13.2 points per game for Brooklyn this season but averaged 17.3 points per game last season, which included time with the Dallas Mavericks. He was traded to Brooklyn near the deadline last season as part of the deal that sent Kyrie Irving to Dallas.

The 30-year-old made headlines recently amid speculation that he may not be giving his best effort with Brooklyn.

The Nets have a 17-27 record that has them in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, just outside of the last spot for the play-in tournament. Brooklyn could choose to be a seller at the deadline and make Dinwiddie available.

The 76ers already made one of the biggest deals of the NBA season when they traded James Harden to the Los Angeles Clippers early on. Though it may not be as significant as that deal was, it seems like Philadelphia could be taking a look at another trade possibility now.
