One of the brightest stars in the NBA bubble thus far has been Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker.
So far, Booker has led the Suns to a perfect 4-0 in the 2019-20 season restart. Despite that spotless record, the Suns are still a long shot to advance to the postseason.
Perhaps that’s why three-time champ Draymond Green thinks it’s time for Booker to find a new home.
He said as much when he joined the crew on TNT to discuss recent news coming from inside the Orlando, Fla. bubble.
“It’s great to see Book playing well and Phoenix playing well, but get my man out of Phoenix,” the outspoken star said. “It’s not good for him, it’s not good for his career. Sorry Chuck (Charles Barkley), but they gotta get Book out of Phoenix. I need my man to go somewhere where he can play great basketball all the time and win, because he’s that type of player.”
After the diatribe, TNT co-host Ernie Johnson asked the Golden State Warriors forward if he was tampering with Booker.
“Maybe,” Green responded with a smile.
So far in the bubble, Booker is averaging 28.0, 6.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game. He’s also the owner of the bubble’s most exciting game-winner so far, which came against the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this week.
Despite Booker’s heroics, the Suns are still on the outside looking in at the playoff standings in the Western Conference at the moment. They’ve only got four more games to make up the difference.
If they do miss out on the playoffs, it is possible that Booker will start looking for options outside of Phoenix.
With that in mind, he’s currently signed through the 2023-24 season so orchestrating a move to a different team would surely be easier said than done.
