Kevin Durant, Devin Booker both show love to Hooters amid bankruptcy rumors

The restaurant chain Hooters doesn’t seem to be doing all that well financially right now. It’s allegedly preparing to file for bankruptcy and has been in contact with a law firm in Ropes & Gray in regard to the process.

According to sources from the New York Post, the filing could happen within the next two months. Hooters has approximately 300 locations in the United States but has supposedly seen a decline in foot traffic.

A pair of Phoenix Suns stars, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, have seemingly advocated for Hooters in light of the news that the company is dealing with financial troubles.

Booker made a post on X recently in which he pleaded for the restaurant chain to stick around. Additionally, Durant uploaded a picture to Instagram depicting him and Booker inside a Hooters restaurant.

The company is still reportedly planning to open new restaurants both in the United States and abroad despite the bankruptcy rumors.

Durant and Booker have been two of the premier scorers in the NBA so far in the 2024-25 campaign. The former ranks sixth in the league in points per game among qualified players with 27.2 per contest, while the latter ranks eighth.

At first glance, folks maybe would assume that having two of the league’s leading scorers would have the Suns sitting pretty in the Western Conference standings, but that isn’t quite the case.

In fact, the Suns have a record below the .500 mark on the season at 27-29 and sit as the No. 11 seed. Phoenix has lost all but three of its last 10 games to boot and just recently lost to the San Antonio Spurs without star big man Victor Wembanyama on Feb. 20.

The Suns will try to pick up just their 28th win of the season when they take on the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena on Sunday night.

What will become of Hooters in the coming months remains to be seen, but perhaps the love that Durant and Booker have shown for the restaurant chain as of late will help get some more customers in its doors.
