The Portland Trail Blazers are trying to finally get over the hump in the Damian Lillard era.
Despite having the superstar’s services since the 2012-13 season, Portland hasn’t made the NBA Finals since 1992.
As a result, many Blazers fans would like to see the organization shake things up, and there has been a lot of speculation about the possibility of Portland making a splash through the trade market.
However, when it comes to the idea of the Blazers trading for Philadelphia 76ers star Tobias Harris, Portland apparently isn’t interested in acquiring the 29-year-old if it means that C.J. McCollum would be on his way out of Rip City.
“I was told that when Tobias Harris’ name was out there that the Blazers had no interest in trading C.J. [McCollum] for Tobias,” the Blazer Focus podcast reported.
Harris would certainly be an interesting addition for Portland. This season, he’s averaging 19.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per contest. He’s shooting 47.6 percent from the field and 31.9 percent from beyond the arc.
Many NBA fans feel that Portland’s backcourt featuring Lillard and McCollum isn’t capable of producing an NBA title, but it sounds like the Blazers aren’t willing to break up the duo in the context of a potential trade for Harris.
Portland is 11-15 this season. It hasn’t helped that the team has been shorthanded at times. It remains to be seen if the organization will attempt to insert some life into its title hopes by trading for a star player this season.
