Report: Several Toronto Raptors players receiving interest on the trade market

Three Toronto Raptors players in Dennis Schroder, Gary Trent Jr. and Bruce Brown are reportedly receiving interest on the trade market.

Brown was recently acquired by the Raptors as part of the trade package that sent star forward Pascal Siakam to the Indiana Pacers. A season ago, he served as an invaluable role player on the Denver Nuggets, who went on to win the 2023 NBA title.

On Thursday, he finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal while shooting 7-of-10 from the field and 1-of-3 from 3-point range against the Chicago Bulls in what was his first game as a Raptor. Brown’s performance wasn’t enough to help lead the Raptors to a win, though, as Toronto lost by six points at home.

Schroder, meanwhile, agreed to a two-year, $26 million deal with Toronto in the 2023 offseason. So far in the 2023-24 regular season, his first season as a member of the Raptors franchise, the point guard is averaging 14.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game while shooting 45.6 percent from the floor.

Finally, Trent has been with the Raptors longer than Brown and Schroder have, as he is in his fourth season in Toronto. Arguably his defining skill is his ability to shoot the ball from behind the 3-point line, considering he is shooting 41.2 percent from 3-point range on 5.5 attempts per game so far this season.

But Trent brings more to the table than just 3-point shooting. He’s also an effective defender at the guard position, as evidenced by the fact that he’s averaging 0.8 steals per game this season and averaged 1.6 per game last season.

Schroder, Trent and Brown all boast impressive two-way skill sets that could theoretically help title contenders come playoff time. But the Raptors only have so much time left to move them before the season’s end, as the trade deadline is less than a month away on Feb. 8.

With how the Raptors’ 2023-24 regular season has transpired to this point, it’s very possible that the team will make another move before the trade deadline.
