The Sacramento Kings are joining the latest revolution in currency.

The chairman of the organization is about to announce that he will allow anyone who is a part of the team, including players, receive his or her salary in bitcoin.

Bitcoin is the most popular form of cryptocurrency. It has slowly been gaining acceptance worldwide, but there is still skepticism regarding it, as its value has been extremely volatile.

The Kings currently have a 22-28 record and sit in 12th place in the Western Conference. With the NBA’s new play-in tournament including the seventh through 10th seeds in each conference, Sacramento still has a real chance of playing for a spot in the postseason.

The team has made some minor changes lately by trading away Cory Joseph and Nemanja Bjelica.

Still, point guard De’Aaron Fox is having a fantastic season, putting up 24.5 points and 7.1 assists per game. If he continues to play like this and others step up, the Kings could return to the playoffs for the first time in what seems like forever.
