In the fourth quarter of Thursday’s game between the Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs, Devin Booker was seen talking trash to Jeremy Sochan.

Sochan got the last laugh though, as the Spurs went on to beat the Suns by 11 points. After the win, he countered Booker’s trash-talk on social media.

The 20-year-old put together arguably his best performance of the season on Thursday. He dropped 14 points and converted seven of his 13 shots from the field in 26 minutes of playing time. Additionally, he pulled down five rebounds and dished out a season-high nine assists in the Spurs’ third win of the season.

Booker, meanwhile, finished with a team-high 31 points for the Suns and knocked down five of his seven shots from behind the 3-point arc. Star Suns wing Kevin Durant scored the second-most points on the team with 28.

While Booker and Sochan both played well for their respective teams, the top performer on either team was arguably Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama, who scored 38 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Sochan is in his second season as a member of the storied Spurs franchise after the team selected him with the No. 9 overall pick of the 2022 NBA Draft. Before joining the Spurs, he played one season of college basketball at Baylor University.

Through five appearances with the Spurs this season, Sochan has stuffed the stat sheet, seeing as how he’s averaging 9.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game while shooting 43.2 percent from the field and 69.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Booker is in his ninth season in the NBA, all as a member of the Suns organization since being drafted back in 2015. He has played in just two games so far this season but is averaging 31.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 10.5 assists in 36.0 minutes per game for Phoenix.

It’ll be quite some time before Sochan and Booker will have the chance to talk trash to each other on the court, as the Suns and Spurs won’t play each other again until March.
