Sports world goes crazy over Scottie Scheffler winning BMW Championship

The BMW Championship was maybe the most notable event in all of sports on Sunday’s slate, and a familiar face among plenty of golf fans won the event. None other than Scottie Scheffler came out on top, and that marked his fifth win of the season and second consecutive PGA Tour campaign with five-plus victories.

The tournament lasted for several days at Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland before it came to an end on Aug. 17. Scheffler rallied to come back and beat Robert MacIntyre, as the former was four shots back of the latter heading into the final round.

Some of the other biggest names in all of sports — such as Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes — have taken to X to react to Scheffler coming out on top in the BMW Championship.

Scheffler is currently ranked as the top golfer on the planet, and yet he hasn’t even hit his 30th birthday yet, as he turned 29 years old back in June.

The golf star showed out at a time of year where the NFL and NBA seasons aren’t going on to occupy James and Mahomes. Opening night for the NBA isn’t until Oct. 21, but James’ Lakers will play on that night, as they will take on the Golden State Warriors.

As for Mahomes, his team will kick off the coming season a lot sooner than the Lakers will, but the Chiefs’ season-opener is still some time away. Kansas City has the first game of its 17-game slate scheduled against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 5.

Mahomes and James will look to add to their championship collections in the coming campaigns in their respective leagues. James will try for his fifth NBA championship in 2026, while Mahomes is seeking his fourth Super Bowl ring.

Overall, people should expect Scheffler to have plenty of more successes in the foreseeable future in light of how well he has played of late, and he is deserving of being ranked as the best golfer on the planet.
