Andrei Kirilenko had a solid NBA career before retiring in 2015.
Kirilenko, a native Russian, played a total of 13 NBA seasons. He suited up for the Utah Jazz, Minnesota Timberwolves and Brooklyn Nets during that time.
AK-47, as he’s commonly known, gained a lot of fame during his NBA career. To manage that fame, Kirilenko has a unique arrangement with his wife Masha Lopatova.
Lopatova, who is a Russian pop star, has told her husband that he is allowed to cheat on her once a year.
“They get chased by women,” Lopatova told the Salt Lake Tribune. “It’s hard to resist. It’s the way men are by nature. When I’m aware and I let him do it, it’s not cheating.”
According to the report, Kirilenko himself expressed zero interest in taking his wife up on the opportunity.
“Of course it was a surprise,” Kirilenko said. “I’m not planning to do anything. But she said, ‘If you want to do it, you can do it.'”
It’s certainly an unorthodox situation, but it appears to work for these two.
Kirilenko and Lopatova have been married since 2000, and they have four children together.
During his career in the NBA, Kirilenko averaged 11.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in and made his only All-Star Game appearance in 2004.
