Washington Wizards star Russell Westbrook’s actions in a recent practice have reportedly played a role in the team’s current five-game winning streak.
Westbrook, a nine-time All-Star selection and the league MVP in 2017 with the Oklahoma City Thunder, is in his first season as a Wizard. He was traded in the offseason from the Houston Rockets amid rumors he was unhappy with the organization.
Westbrook is nearly tallying a triple-double per game this season, averaging 19.9 points, 9.7 rebounds and 9.7 assists through 21 games.
Prior to the winning streak, the Wizards had the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference at 6-17. The streak has included wins against the Boston Celtics, Houston, Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers and Monday’s shocking overtime upset over the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Wizards are now only two games back from the East’s No. 8 seed and hope to continue their hot streak on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Clippers.
