The Washington Wizards are resting former MVP Russell Westbrook in Friday’s game versus the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Early in the 2020-21 season, the Wizards are off to a disastrous start to their season. Despite trading for Westbrook prior to the start of the campaign, the team has yet to earn its first win.
Last season, Westbrook averaged 27.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game. However, his tenure with the Houston Rockets ended after just one season.
With the Wizards, Westbrook was surely hoping that a fresh start alongside star guard Bradley Beal would bring great success. That has not been the case yet.
As for Beal, he’s off to blistering start on the season. So far this season, he’s put up 31.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.
Though he has previously stated his dedication to turning the Wizards into a winning franchise, it will be interesting to see if the continued losing forces the young star to ultimately continue his NBA career elsewhere.
