In the wake of the Baltimore Ravens trade of offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. to the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday, a new report indicates that the team is looking at a pair of free agents as potential replacements.
The Ravens dealt Brown, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, to the Chiefs in exchange for Kansas City’s first-, third- and fourth-round selections in next week’s NFL draft, as well as a fifth-rounder next year.
Brown was a third-round draft selection by the Ravens in the 2018 draft and was an important part of keeping standout quarterback Lamar Jackson healthy.
The Chiefs’ decision to acquire Brown was also looked upon as an effort to protect their own valuable property in quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
In pursuing either Dennis Kelly or Alejandro Villanueva, the Ravens are clearly looking at installing a veteran presence and could be looking to pick up a future prospect in the draft.
Kelly has eight years of NFL experience, the last five with the Tennessee Titans. Until last season, when he started every game, he’d spent the bulk of his career serving in a reserve capacity.
Villanueva has spent all seven of his NFL seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and has started every game for them over the past five campaigns.
If the Ravens are unable to acquire either of those two players, it’s currently uncertain who they might look at as a replacement option.
