Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs – brother of Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs – said on social media Monday that his brother needs to get off the Bills.
Buffalo lost to the Denver Broncos at home on Monday Night Football to fall to 5-5 on the season. It was a brutal loss for a Bills team that is currently outside of the playoff picture in the AFC.
Denver took a 21-15 lead in the fourth quarter on a Javonte Williams touchdown reception, but the team failed to make its extra point after punter Riley Dixon failed to handle the snap cleanly. That opened the door for Buffalo to come back and win the game.
The Bills promptly went down the field and scored a touchdown on a run by quarterback Josh Allen. Both Allen and running back James Cook gashed Denver on the ground during the drive.
Buffalo made its extra point, giving the team a one-point lead with under two minutes remaining in the game.
But Denver was able to get down the field, and the team moved into field goal range after a penalty on Bills cornerback Taron Johnson.
Johnson’s penalty allowed Denver to run the clock down – and force Buffalo to use its final timeouts – before trying a game-winning field goal.
However, Denver ended up missing the attempt – only for Buffalo to be called for having 12 players on the field, a five-yard penalty. Denver then ended up making the second attempt to win the game.
It was a heartbreaking way to lose for the Bills, and it appears that Trevon Diggs doesn’t want his brother to deal with any more of those losses.
Stefon Diggs did not have his best game on Monday night, catching just three passes for 34 yards on five targets. Allen targeted both Gabe Davis (six targets) and rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid (also six targets) more than Stefon Diggs against Denver.
Since it is past the NFL’s trade deadline, the star wideout is likely going to be in Buffalo for the remainder of the 2023 season.
After that, it’s possible he’ll look for a way out of Buffalo, but the wide receiver’s contract runs through the 2027 season.
It will be interesting to see how Stefon Diggs performs the rest of the season and if he ends up agreeing with his brother’s statement on social media.
