Rookie quarterback Justin Fields has reportedly been continuously proving why the Chicago Bears made the right move when they drafted him in the first round.
“Expect increased snaps for Justin Fields,” Ian Rapoport reported. “Here’s what I’m told behind the scenes for the Chicago Bears. He is growing everyday. There are wow moments, wow throws every single day in practice. He’s actually coming along faster than they expected. They are essentially head over heels in love with him. They use these packages as growth moments for Fields. No moment is too big, so expect to see more of him.”
That is certainly high praise for Fields. Currently, he is serving as backup for veteran quarterback Andy Dalton. But if the 33-year-old continues to play as ineffectively as he did in the team’s Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, it might not take too long for Fields to replace him in the starting lineup.
Fields had quite a successful collegiate career. He played one year for the University of Georgia before transferring to the Ohio State University.
The promising quarterback helped lead the Buckeyes to a Big Ten championship in 2019 and an appearance in the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship.
Only time will tell if he can also find similar success in the professional league.
