Report: Approximately $200K in property was stolen from Shedeur Sanders’ home

Signal-caller Shedeur Sanders made his season debut for the Cleveland Browns in their bout against the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 16, and the results were far from promising. Not only did he manage to complete just four of his 16 passing attempts in the game, but he threw an interception without throwing a single touchdown.

To add insult to injury for Sanders’ subpar debut, he was robbed of a whole lot of money’s worth of property on that very same day. Allegedly, around $200,000 worth of property was stolen from Sanders’ home when he was making his debut.

“Approximately $200,000 in property was stolen from the home of Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders during a break-in Sunday, according to police,” Daniel Oyefusi wrote.

“Three suspects entered Sanders’ home at about 6:46 p.m. ET, according to a news release from the Medina County Sheriff’s Office. Surveillance cameras in the home captured video footage of the suspects entering and exiting different portions of the home. The suspects were wearing masks and gloves and were seen exiting Sanders’ home at around 6:58 p.m. ET with property belonging to Sanders.

“The incident is being investigated by the sheriff’s office, according to the release.

“The break-in occurred while Sanders was making his NFL debut in Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland.”

The break-in continues a disturbing trend of high-profile athletes getting burglarized. Over the last year or so, Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Cincinnati Bengals signal-caller Joe Burrow have all been victims.

With the lack of playing time Sanders has received so far as a rookie and the recent burglary, maybe a change of scenery already would be in his best interest. Dillon Gabriel — another first-year player — has been the Browns’ starting quarterback since they traded away Joe Flacco, and there’s no evidence to suggest that Sanders will usurp his role as QB1 anytime soon.

There might be no shortage of teams around the league who are in need of a talented quarterback soon as well. Reading the tea leaves suggest that at least the Arizona Cardinals, Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets will be scouring the open market for a signal-caller before long. The Kyler Murray experiment hasn’t worked out in Arizona. Geno Smith is tied for leading the league in interceptions for Las Vegas with 13. And, the Jets have had a hole at the position for years.

Any of those three teams would make sense for Sanders’ next NFL home, but for now, Sanders is still a Brown and hoping he will get another opportunity to show off his talent this season. But in light of how he fared just recently against the Ravens, the jury’s out on whether he will get that opportunity.
