Report: Broncos likely to trade Jerry Jeudy closer to draft with Browns and Pats looking for receiver

Jerry Jeudy’s time with the Denver Broncos could be coming to an end, as he is reportedly likely to be shipped to a different team this offseason. Interestingly, the Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots are apparently among those “most interested” in acquiring a receiver.

The wide receiver might have to wait a bit more to gain some clarity about his situation. Because of the Broncos’ reportedly high asking price for Jeudy, some suitors might not be in a rush to try to acquire the 23-year-old.

Some executives even seemingly believe that a deal is likely to come near the 2023 NFL Draft than right now.

It remains to be seen if the Brown or Patriots try to outbid one another or other squads for Jeudy’s services. But it should be noted that Cleveland had also recently traded for another wide receiver, Elijah Moore.

Since coming into the league as Denver’s first-round pick in the 2020 draft, Jeudy has shown potential to be among the NFL’s outstanding wideouts. In his rookie campaign, he had 52 receptions for three touchdowns and 856 yards. He also recorded the longest reception in the league that season with 92 yards.

His second year in the league unfortunately saw him sustain an injury in the very first game against the New York Giants, causing him to miss six consecutive contests. The University of Alabama product ended up suiting up in 10 matches in the 2021 campaign.

Last season, Jeudy caught 67 passes for six touchdowns and 972 yards, all of which were career-highs. Sadly, he wasn’t able to help Broncos reach the playoffs, extending the franchise’s playoff drought to seven seasons.

To attempt to change the organization’s fortunes, Denver has undergone some significant changes, including the hiring of Sean Payton. But because the coach had still been under contract with the New Orleans Saints, the Broncos needed to send a couple of draft picks, including their 2023 first-round pick, to the Saints.

That deal, along with the trade package that brought Russell Wilson to Denver in the 2022 offseason, left the Broncos with no selection in the 2023 draft until the third round.

But it seems the front office wants to change that and get back in to the first or second round of the draft. Jeudy could be the Broncos’ ticket to have an earlier selection. However, no trade has come to fruition yet.
