Shannon Sharpe breaks his silence after video of him having sex goes viral

Shannon Sharpe was captured on Instagram Live ostensibly having sex, though he cannot be seen in the video.

Sharpe has posted on his social media that he had been hacked, but that post has since been taken down.

The 56-year-old has been making waves in the sports media space of late. He is a frequent guest on ESPN and even has his very own podcast.

But before he saw his success behind the camera, he carved out a 14-year NFL career and cemented himself as one of the best tight ends in league history.

During his playing career in the NFL, Sharpe earned eight Pro Bowl appearances, several All-Pro selections and won three Super Bowls.

He started out his pro career with the Denver Broncos, who selected him in the seventh round of the 1990 NFL Draft, and he spent his first 10 seasons in the NFL with the team. Interestingly, it took a bit of time for Sharpe to establish himself as a legitimate star in the league.

After all, in his first two seasons in the NFL, he started only 11 games combined. It wasn’t until the 1992 season that Sharpe finally enjoyed a breakout season in the league.

Across 16 games played and 11 starts with the Broncos in the 1992 regular season, he totaled 640 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns on 53 receptions. Sharpe also earned the first Pro Bowl appearance of his NFL career.

Sharpe totaled 1,000-plus receiving yards in a single season on three occasions during his pro tenure. He totaled 1,010 in the 1994 regular season, 1,062 in the 1996 regular season and a career-high 1,107 receiving yards in the 1997 regular season.

The former NFL star also has a whopping 9,961 receiving yards to his name, which is the fifth-most of any tight end in league history and behind only Tony Gonzalez, Jason Witten, Antonio Gates and Travis Kelce.

NFL fans shouldn’t be surprised if Sharpe comes out publicly to clear the air about the seemingly accidental live video of him participating in sexual activities.
