According to reports, the New England Patriots released cornerback Stephon Gilmore Wednesday morning in a surprising move.
There will surely be a big market for his services, and it looks like Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams is already trying to recruit him on social media.
Gilmore posted a heartfelt farewell to the Patriots, and Adams’ comment was quickly pointed out.
Gilmore figures to make a big impact wherever he lands. Just two seasons ago, he led the league in inceptions with six and passes defended with 20.
The veteran has been named to four Pro Bowls throughout his career. Before being released today, he hadn’t appeared in a game for the Patriots this season due to a quad injury.
Adams and the Packers are off to a 3-1 start this season, and Green Bay is hoping to challenge for a Super Bowl title.
However, despite the team’s solid start to the year, the Packers’ defense has had a somewhat rocky season thus far. Adding Gilmore would certainly provide Green Bay with a nice boost on that side of the ball.
