Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love was helped off the field late in the team’s 34-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday after he suffered a leg injury. While Love reportedly isn’t dealing with a season-ending injury, he could be sidelined for the near future with an MCL sprain, as he is expected to be out for three to six weeks.
Love had a decent performance in Green Bay’s season opener before he went down with his injury.
He ended up with 260 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. But his accuracy was subpar, considering he threw one interception and completed only half of his 34 passing attempts.
Love injured his MCL not all that long after he agreed to sign a lucrative four-year, $220 million contract extension to remain with the Packers.
The 25-year-old is in just his fourth season in the NFL, though he has already staked his claim as a quality starting quarterback.
He didn’t sit out a single one of Green Bay’s 17 games during the 2023 regular season and totaled 4,159 passing yards, 32 passing touchdowns and 209 first downs passing. Love helped the Packers finish with a respectable record of 9-8, which was good enough for the team to secure a spot in the playoffs.
But the Packers may have to find ways to win sans Love on the field if the team wants to qualify for the playoffs for the second year in a row. Unfortunately for fans of the team, Green Bay’s defense didn’t give folks a lot to write home about on Friday.
Green Bay allowed 410 total yards of offense versus the Eagles, 266 of which were passing yards. Philadelphia also scored 10-plus points in two out of the four quarters of the contest, including 17 in the second quarter alone.
The next game on the Packers’ regular-season schedule is a matchup against the Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 15 in what will be a home game for Green Bay.
