On Saturday, conflicting reports were released on the Indianapolis Colts regarding their pursuit of Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed.
First, Destin Adams reported that the Chiefs and Colts were finalizing a deal to send Sneed to Indianapolis, with Kansas City set to receive a pair of draft picks in return.
But Stephen Holder, a Colts insider for ESPN, subsequently denied those claims.
Adams then doubled down on his claim after Holder expressed skepticism about his report.
Finally, Holder revealed on X that folks within the Colts organization told him that there isn’t a trade in place between the two teams.
These conflicting reports come in light of a report from Tyler Dragon that the Colts are one of seven teams who have expressed interest in Sneed.
“A person with direct knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports that the Minnesota Vikings, Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots, Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars have expressed interest in the Chiefs corner,” Dragon wrote.
Sneed has played four seasons in the NFL, all with the Chiefs organization since the team drafted him with the No. 138 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
He played in all but one of Kansas City’s 17 contests in the 2023 regular season and accumulated 60 solo tackles, 78 combined tackles, 18 assists on tackles, five tackles for loss and three quarterback hits.
Additionally, he came up with two interceptions and recovered one fumble.
Sneed managed to parlay his regular-season success into the playoffs and was an important part of the Chiefs’ defensive unit during their run that ended with a Super Bowl title. Across four playoff games, he totaled 17 combined tackles, 14 solo tackles and three assists on tackles while also forcing one fumble.
Arguably the 27-year-old’s best game during Kansas City’s playoff run came versus the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game, when he finished with five solo tackles and one forced fumble in a game the Chiefs went on to win by a final score of 17-10 to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl.
Fans of both the Chiefs and Colts should watch out for any further updates from Adams and Holder on Indianapolis’ pursuit of Sneed via trade.
