Report: Jacksonville Jaguars to sign Tim Tebow to one-year deal

The Jacksonville Jaguars are reportedly set to sign former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow to a contract, thereby reuniting him with his college coach, Urban Meyer.

Meyer previously served as head coach at the University of Florida, where he had Tebow as his quarterback from 2006 to 2009.

Tebow then entered the NFL as a first-round draft pick of the Denver Broncos in 2010 and started 14 games in his two seasons in the Mile High City.

In March 2012, Tebow was dealt to the New York Jets and started two games that season before he moved on and made an effort to play for the New England Patriots. However, he was released and began a broadcasting career before briefly playing minor league baseball.

The fact that the 33-year-old Tebow is willing to compete for a spot with the Jaguars has some controversy attached to the move.

That’s because previously, he had rejected suggestions that he change positions after his potential as an NFL quarterback was deemed limited.

The move offers no risk to the Jaguars and will certainly make their training camp an interesting place to be this summer.
