Report: Patrick Mahomes has ‘absolutely zero limitations’ on offense for Chiefs-Eagles Super Bowl despite injury

Playing in his third Super Bowl in four seasons, Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes has a chance to further boost his Hall of Fame resume with another championship on Sunday.

However, there have been concerns surrounding whether he will be 100 percent for the title match against the Philadelphia Eagles. The recently named NFL MVP sustained an ankle sprain during an earlier playoff matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fortunately for the organization and its fans, Mahomes seems to be in good shape heading into the Super Bowl, according to a report by ESPN’s Dianna Russini.

“Appearing on SportsCenter, ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported Mahomes has ‘absolutely zero limitations’ with what he can do in the offense coming off a high ankle sprain,” Rob Goldberg of Bleacher Report relayed.

“Russini added the two-time NFL MVP doesn’t have ‘any sharp pains going up his leg’ right now but some soreness, and he’s made ‘tremendous progress’ since the AFC Championship Game two weeks ago.”

It’s worth noting that Mahomes is apparently still experiencing some soreness. Even so, the update indicates that the quarterback has made significant progress in his recovery. Of course, a hobbling Mahomes would have decreased Kansas City’s chances of defeating the Eagles and bringing home its third Super Bowl trophy.

Russini added more information on the quarterback.

“This past week, he and Andy Reid were collaborating on the plays,” Russini explained. “They had him rolling out and trying different ad-libbing with different scenarios to just see what the comfort level was. They went through a list of plays, and they checked off ‘this is what I like, this is what I’m comfortable doing.’ And it was all set and in place by Friday night. Overall, though, Mahomes feels really good. Speaking to players, they said that he has been locked in all week long.”

With just a few hours before the kickoff of the championship bout, fans are excited to see what Mahomes can do against an elite Eagles defense. Furthermore, the game will feature a battle between two of the league’s best signal-callers, making for an interesting subplot to the Super Bowl.

The five-time Pro Bowler will be matching up against Jalen Hurts, who was among the finalists for this season’s MVP award and has helped the Eagles establish themselves as one of the NFL’s best offenses. Incidentally, Hurts is also nursing an ailment of his own, battling a shoulder injury that has been causing him some discomfort for weeks now.

But the two stars are likely not going to let their respective injuries stop them from going all out on the field. After all, a title is on the line. They will also have deserved opportunities to heal and rest in the coming offseason.
