Travis Kelce believes Fox did Greg Olsen ‘dirty’ in favor of Tom Brady

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce believes that Fox did former NFL tight end Greg Olsen “dirty” by replacing him as the No. 1 NFL analyst on its broadcasts.

Olsen will be replaced by Tom Brady, the legendary former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, beginning in Week 1 in the Dallas Cowboys-Cleveland Browns matchup.

Kelce showed support for Olsen, who held the No. 1 analyst position on Fox for two seasons, on his podcast “New Heights.”

“I love my guy Greg Olsen,” Kelce said. “They kind of did him dirty over there at Fox. But I mean, it’s Tom Brady, what can you do, right? Sometimes you just gotta do your thing. And Greg does a f—— tremendous job. He called our Super Bowl game and he was f—— fantastic doing that.”

The Chiefs star wasn’t the only one to speak out on Olsen’s behalf, as Kelce’s brother, former Philadelphia Eagles legendary center Jason Kelce, also showed his support for Olsen.

“I try not to be biased against the commentators and the color guys, but I think Greg is phenomenal at it,” Jason Kelce said. “You can tell he makes it a point to really know what he’s talking about.”

In the 2024 season, Olsen reportedly will serve as the No. 2 analyst for Fox, calling games alongside Joe Davis.

It’s hard to fault Fox for giving Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion and one of the most recognizable figures in the history of the NFL, the gig, but Olsen’s skill at commentating certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed.

During his NFL career, Olsen played for the Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks across 14 NFL seasons. He was one of the better tight ends in the league during his career, racking up 742 catches, 8,683 receiving yards and 60 receiving touchdowns. He had three straight 1,000-yard seasons from 2014 through 2016.

For Fox, it’s nice to have one of the biggest names in the game (Brady) and a talented (and proven) commentator in Olsen on the team for the 2024 season.

The NFL will officially release the 2024 season schedule on Wednesday night, and there will likely be more clarity as to which games Brady and Olsen will cover this coming season once it is finalized.

In the future, it’ll be interesting to see if Olsen looks to make a jump to another network (such as ESPN or NBC) that covers the NFL to get back in a lead role calling games.
