Report: ‘Most of the league’ has been contacted about Jalen Ramsey, including Rams, Lions and Eagles

Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey is one of the more notable players in the league to pop up in trade rumors lately. A report surfaced not long ago about the Dolphins and Ramsey gearing up to explore trade options, and Miami general manager Chris Grier confirmed that report shortly thereafter.

According to OutKick’s Armando Salguero, the Dolphins and Ramsey’s camp haven’t just been sitting on their hands. Reportedly, “most” of the NFL has been contacted about the veteran, including the Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Rams, Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles.

“And between the Dolphins and the Ramsey camp, the teams that have been contacted are, well, most of the league,” Salguero wrote. “Ramsey wants to be on a winner.

“The Dolphins have talked to the Rams, Falcons, Lions, Commanders, Eagles and others.

“The problem here is not draft compensation. Ramsey, if traded, may go for a fifth-round pick or thereabouts.

“The issue is the $25.2 million Miami would have to swallow in dead cap if the trade happens before June 1.

“So any team wanting to make this trade now might be asked to provide the Dolphins with some cap relief on that number.

“A post-June 1 trade would result in nearly $10 millon in cap savings for the Dolphins but, obviously, finding a trade partner then might be tougher than doing it now.

“One way a trade doesn’t happen at all? Ramsey takes a pay cut from Miami. One NFL source said it’s the reason he’s on the market in the first place – which is odd because the Dolphins gave him a raise just prior to last season.”

It’s worth noting that Ramsey previously played for the Rams and enjoyed great success with the team both individually and collectively. Ramsey was an All-Pro in two of his seasons with Los Angeles and helped the Rams win a Super Bowl in the 2021 campaign.

Rams head coach Sean McVay also said recently that he would “never rule out” the possibility of a reunion with Ramsey in Los Angeles. Should Ramsey end up on the Rams once again in the near future, he would be joining a team that clinched the NFC West division last season with a record of 10-7.

The Eagles stand out as another intriguing option along with the Rams. After all, the Eagles are the defending Super Bowl champions and are primed to compete for a title once again in the 2025 season. Philadelphia beat quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl back in February.

Ramsey is maybe on the way out of Miami after he played for the team in the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He earned a Pro Bowl nod in his maiden season as a Dolphin despite appearing in just 10 of the team’s 17 games in the regular season. He was more available in what could go down as his last season with the franchise, as he suited up in all 17 of Miami’s contests this past season.

If Ramsey does indeed get traded, hopefully it will be to a team he will have a real puncher’s chance at winning another Super Bowl with.
