Tyreek Hill reacts to kids seemingly imitating his viral police detainment in Halloween stunt

Almost two months after Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was detained ahead of his team’s season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, a photo went viral on social media after a few kids seemingly imitated Hill’s detainment for Halloween.

While the stunt wasn’t received positively by everyone on social media, Hill didn’t seem to have a problem with it.

Hill was pulled over for a traffic stop before the Dolphins took on the Jaguars, and body cam footage of the 30-year-old’s interaction with police went viral. Police could be seen getting Hill out of his car by force and then throwing him down on the concrete. He was later forced to the ground a second time.

Police reportedly intended to arrest Hill along with defensive lineman Calais Campbell (who was also detained while attempting to defuse the situation) before the Dolphins organization got involved and made sure they weren’t taken in for booking, processing and other procedures. The two players would have missed the Week 1 game if the Dolphins hadn’t intervened.

Hill and Campbell then both suited up against the Jaguars, and the former totaled 130 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

Separately, former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested for driving under the influence and three other offenses in October, and Hill openly questioned why Cutler’s arrest received what he thought was a lack of media coverage.

The incident involving Hill in September led to a wide variety of reactions and conversations, with Hill calling for police reform after going through the situation.

On the field, he’s looking to turn his season around. His performance against Jacksonville notwithstanding, he has looked like a shell of his former self in most of his third season with the Dolphins. After he averaged 100-plus receiving yards per game in each of his first two seasons with the team, he is averaging just 52.3 through seven games played this season.

He also is on track to finish a season with under 1,000 total receiving yards for the first time since the 2019 campaign, as he has 366 to his name at nearly the halfway point of the season.

This Sunday, he will try to help the Dolphins win their third game of the season when they take on the Buffalo Bills. He’d love to get himself rolling again in the process.
