The New England Patriots have been loving new quarterback Cam Newton, but they will now be without him for sometime.
According to a Saturday report, the former MVP has tested positive for COVID-19 and has already been ruled out for his team’s upcoming game versus the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Patriots released a statement on the matter.
Thus far, no other players have tested positive, leading to hopes that a possible spread has been contained.
Newton is in his first season with the Patriots after having parted ways with the Carolina Panthers this past offseason.
In three games this season, Newton has passed for 714 yards and two touchdowns on a 68.1 completion percentage. He has also rushed for four touchdowns so far this season.
Hopefully, his recovery is quick and no one else in the Patriots’ locker room comes down with the highly infectious disease.
