On Monday, the New England Patriots made the surprising decision to cut receiver Julian Edelman.
The reason why is reportedly because the veteran failed a physical.
Edelman has spent his entire NFL career as a member of the Patriots. Of course, he spent many seasons as the top option for legendary quarterback Tom Brady.
The two won three Super Bowls together in New England.
In his career, Edelman has recorded 620 receptions for 6,822 yards and 36 touchdowns.
Last season marked a major drop in his production. He played in just six games and caught 21 balls for 315 yards and no touchdowns.
There are rumors surfacing that this could be a precursor to Edelman’s retirement announcement.
