The New Orleans Saints are reportedly planning to re-sign quarterback Jameis Winston after coming up short in their effort to acquire Deshaun Watson.
In the 2021 campaign, Winston started in seven games before suffering a season-ending injury. In those contests, he looked impressive, throwing for 1,170 yards, 14 touchdowns and only three interceptions.
Back in 2015, Winston was the top overall pick in the draft. During his time at Florida State University, Winston made a name for himself and has since played in seven NFL seasons.
Winston’s season-ending injury in the 2021 campaign was a torn ACL. Such injuries can be difficult to return from for some players, though the Saints appear confident that he’ll be back on the field.
