Aaron Rodgers’ ex-fiancee opens up on ‘awful, traumatic thing’ that happened at same time engagement was called off

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was engaged to actress Shailene Woodley before the couple split back in February 2022.

In a interview with Outside Magazine, Woodley opened up about a “toxic situation” that she remained in early in 2022, potentially referring to her relationship with Rodgers.

“I had a really awful, traumatic thing happen in early 2022,” Woodley said.

The actress continued.

“I felt like I lost my soul, my self, my happiness, my joy,” she said. “I really understood depression and anxiety and, like, complete soul detachment.”

While the actress did not specifically say that the situation was her breakup with the star quarterback, she later revealed that their relationship “was not right.”

“I haven’t shared much about my relationship with Aaron because it always makes me cry,” Woodley said. “It was not right. But it was beautiful.”

It’s unfortunate that Woodley and Rodgers were unable to make things work, and hopefully the actress has been able to find herself again after losing her joy back in 2022.

Rodgers’ NFL career has taken quite a turn since he and Woodley went their separate ways. The 2022 NFL season was Rodgers’ last with the Green Bay Packers – the franchise that drafted him in the first round in the 2005 NFL draft.

He joined the New York Jets prior to the 2023 season, but the four-time league MVP suffered an Achilles injury in the Jets’ season opener and did not play in another game that season.

This season, expectations were high for the Jets with Rodgers returning to action, but New York has struggled all season long, winning just three of its 12 games. The Jets are currently on a three-game losing streak heading into their Week 14 matchup with the Miami Dolphins.

Rodgers has struggled this season, as the 41-year-old is completing just 62.5 percent of his passes (well below his career completion percentage of 65.1 percent) and has thrown for 2,627 yards, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Rodgers has also already taken 28 sacks, just four fewer than he did in the 2022 season when he appeared in 17 games.

With the Jets sitting on the outside of the playoff picture this season, it’s fair to wonder if Rodgers will be back with the franchise next season. He has one more season remaining on his current contract, but the Jets may want to begin a rebuild if they don’t feel that the veteran can lead them to playoff success next season.
