Report: All fake ads calling Kamala Harris the ‘official candidate of the Philadelphia Eagles’ have been removed

On Monday, a number of political advertisements declaring Kamala Harris the official presidential candidate of the Philadelphia Eagles were seen in the city of Philadelphia.

However, the Eagles called the ads “counterfeit,” and they’ve since been removed.

The ads in question depicted Harris in an Eagles helmet and clutching a football.

The advertisements were up for display at bus stops owned by Intersection Media, and the company clarified that whoever put the ads up did not have authorization to do so.

“We are aware that several of our bus shelters located in Philadelphia have been vandalized and that the paid advertising copy in each of those shelters has been replaced with an unauthorized copy,” a spokesperson wrote. “While our bus shelters have locks that typically prevent the installation of unauthorized copy by non-Intersection staff, occasionally people find a way to unlock the ad box and insert unauthorized copy. The unauthorized copy in this case implies an endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris by the Philadelphia Eagles. We note that the Eagles and Intersection had nothing to do with the creation or posting of this unauthorized copy and Intersection staff will be removing the ads as soon as possible.”

The Eagles organization publicly reacted to the pro-Harris ads as well.

Folks who interacted with the URL on each of the ads were directed to a real Eagles page with bipartisan voting information relevant to people who reside in Pennsylvania or New Jersey.

On the field, the Eagles are hoping that their 2024 regular season will be as successful as their preseason stint. Philadelphia won two of its three contests during that span, with victories coming against the Baltimore Ravens on Aug. 9 and New England Patriots on Aug. 15.

The team’s only preseason loss came to the Minnesota Vikings. The Eagles were massively outplayed during the matchup in question. Philadelphia scored only three points the entire game, while the Vikings dropped 26 and scored in every one of the four quarters.

The Eagles will kick off their regular season with a showdown against the Green Bay Packers in Brazil this coming Friday. Green Bay was a formidable opponent last season, as the team won nine of its 17 contests during the regular season and also managed to win a playoff game.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are hoping to return to Super Bowl contention this season after they went 11-6 last season before taking a quick exit in the playoffs.
