Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger recently indicated that it was his decision to take a pay cut for the 2021 season.
Roethlisberger has spent his entire NFL career with the Steelers after being selected by them with the 11th overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft.
Over his 17 seasons, Roethlisberger has led the team to two Super Bowl titles, three conference championships and numerous playoff appearances.
From an individual standpoint, Roethlisberger has thrown for 60,348 yards and and 396 touchdowns over the course of his career. However, he’s already 39 years old and is surely approaching the end of his NFL career.
Exactly how much longer Roethlisberger will remain a member of the Steelers may very well depend on his performance during the upcoming season, which gets underway against the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 12.
Any notable decline this season may result in the Steelers moving on, which could force Roethlisberger to reassess his attitude about what uniform he’ll wear.
