Myles Garrett on Aaron Rodgers joining the AFC North: ‘It’s a good opportunity to put him in the graveyard’

One of the more talented quarterbacks the NFL has ever seen, Aaron Rodgers, recently found his new home in the league. He agreed to a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers after he spent plenty of time as an unsigned free agent.

Rodgers’ decision means he will now be playing in an AFC North division that includes the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens along with the Steelers.

Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has spent his entire pro career playing in the division, and he made some noteworthy comments about Rodgers joining the AFC North.

Garrett is hoping that he can add Rodgers to the lengthy list of 31 quarterbacks he has sacked over the course of his stellar career. He has racked up 102.5 sacks during his time in the pros and totaled 14.0 across 17 starts with the Browns in the 2024 season.

The Steelers will mark just the third NFL team Rodgers has played for since he was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He spent the 2024 season with the New York Jets and put up 3,897 passing yards and 28 passing touchdowns compared to 11 interceptions in 17 starts.

Rodgers is looking to help the Steelers build upon what was an impressive campaign last season. Pittsburgh won 10 of its 17 regular-season contests and qualified for the playoffs, though the team lost its opening playoff game to the Ravens by 14 points.

The signal-caller’s experience winning at a high level could come in handy for the Steelers as they hope to take that next step and solidify themselves as Super Bowl contenders. Rodgers has been at the NFL’s mountaintop before, as he won a Super Bowl while playing for the Packers earlier on in his pro tenure.

In light of Garrett’s comments, NFL fans should circle their calendars for when the Browns and Steelers face off for the first time in the 2025 season. The divisional rivals will do battle at Acrisure Stadium on Oct. 12 and meet again for the second and final time in the 2025 season on Dec. 28.
