The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have both Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski on their roster, but questions remain about how much each player has left in the tank.
According to Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians, Gronkowski has looked as though he discovered the fountain of youth during his short retirement from the NFL.
Arians added that the star tight end is no longer hampered by the lingering injuries that plagued him in recent years while playing for the New England Patriots.
“He doesn’t have a gigantic elbow brace on,” Arians said. “He’s moving, running fast and has great body control.”
The Bucs are banking on Brady and Gronkowski to be able to rekindle the incredible connection they enjoyed for years while on the Patriots.
During his career in New England, Gronkowski totaled 7,861 yards and 79 touchdowns on 521 total receptions.
He’s already in the top 10 when it comes to all-time reception yards for a tight end and is third in touchdowns.
The Buccaneers are expected to have one of the most dominant offenses this season with Brady at the helm.
If Gronkowski can regain the form he enjoyed during his peak years in New England, the team’s firepower may simply be too much for opposing defenses to contain.
