According to a new report, the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on the verge of re-signing veteran defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh to a new one-year contract.

The 34-year-old Suh has played the past two seasons with the Buccaneers and has remained a key member of the Buccaneers’ defensive line during that span.

Last season, Suh collected nine tackles for loss, including six sacks, while also forcing a fumble during the regular season.

In last month’s Super Bowl, Suh was a major part of the Bucs’ dominating defense, collecting 1.5 sacks and helping shut down a powerhouse Kansas City Chiefs offense in the 31-9 victory.

Such numbers have been standard over the course of Suh’s career, which began in 2010 as the second overall pick of that year’s draft by the Detroit Lions.

In his first season, Suh won Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year honors and was named to the Pro Bowl for the first of four times while with the Lions.

Suh then played three seasons with the Miami Dolphins, where he again garnered a Pro Bowl selection before playing one season with the Los Angeles Rams in 2018.
