Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady reportedly has agreed to a new contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2022 season.
The extension reportedly saves the Bucs $19 million against the cap this season. The additional years added to Brady’s deal after 2022 are voidable, but they do help lower the Bucs’ cap number for this season.
The Bucs are looking to keep as much of their core together as they can after winning the Super Bowl last season.
The team has already franchise tagged wide receiver Chris Godwin, but it still needs to find a way to keep linebackers Lavonte David and Shaquil Barrett.
Last season, Brady threw for 4,633 yards, 40 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
He will turn 44 years old prior to the start of the 2021 NFL regular season.
