After a few days of uncertainty, Tom Brady has made it official.
The legendary quarterback is retiring from the NFL following 22 iconic seasons. He took to Instagram on Tuesday and shared a lengthy, genuine message making his decision public.
Brady walks away from the NFL as arguably the greatest player the game has seen. He spent 20 seasons with the New England Patriots and two with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, forever changing the history of both organizations.
In total, the future Hall of Famer won seven Super Bowl titles. The first six came with the Patriots, and the last one came with the Bucs. No player in NFL has history has more rings than Brady, which is a fact that might hold true for a long time.
Brady is a 15-time Pro Bowler and three-time MVP, which are just some of the many accolades he’ll always be able to say he earned. He’s also retiring at the top of his game, as he just put together a phenomenal 2021 season.
To some, it may seem like Brady is walking away too soon, as he seemingly still has multiple good seasons left in the tank. However, at 44 years old, it’s clear that he’s ready for life after football.
The NFL might never feel the same without Brady, but the league’s future is in good hands. There are plenty of talented youngsters at the quarterback position who are poised to dominate for years to come.
