On Thursday, Washington Football Team defensive back Deshazor Everett reportedly was involved in a car crash that tragically claimed the life of a 29-year-old woman.

The incident is being investigated. It sounds like Everett was driving a vehicle on Thursday evening when the car went off the side of the road, ran into several trees and rolled over. The 29-year-old woman was a passenger in the car.

It sounds like Everett suffered “serious but non-life-threatening injuries” as a result of the crash.

“The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Thursday night on Gum Spring Road,” the sheriff’s office revealed in a release.

“The driver of a 2010 Nissan GT-R was traveling north on Gum Spring Road near Ticonderoga Road when around 9:15 p.m. the vehicle left the right side of the roadway, struck several trees, and rolled over.

“The passenger, Olivia S. Peters, 29, of Las Vegas, Nevada was taken to StoneSprings Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

“The driver was taken to Reston Hospital Center where he is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

“The cause of the crash remains under investigation.”

Although the sheriff’s office didn’t name Everett in its release, several major outlets have been able to confirm that the veteran NFL player was indeed the driver of the car.

“The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia has confirmed to multiple outlets that Washington Football Team defensive back and special teamer Deshazor Everett was the driver in a fatal car accident Thursday night,” wrote Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post.

This is clearly a tragic situation. More information will likely become available as the investigation progresses.

The team released a statement addressing the matter on Friday.

Everett is in his seventh season at the NFL level. He has spent all of them with Washington.
