Angel Reese says Caitlin Clark fans have sent her death threats, followed her home and made nude AI pictures of her

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese said that she has been on the receiving end of death threats from fans of Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark.

“Caitlin is an amazing player, and I’ve always thought she was an amazing player,” Reese said. “We’ve been playin’ each other since high school. So, I think it’s really just the fans, her fans, the Iowa fans, now the Indiana fans, that are — they ride for her, and I respect that respectfully. But sometimes it’s very disrespectful — I think there’s a lot of racism when it comes to it. And I don’t believe she stands on any of that.

“But when it comes to death threats — I’m talkin’ about people have come down to my address — follow me home. It’s come down to that. Multiple occasions people have made AI pictures of me naked, literally. They have sent it to my family members.”

Clark and Reese stick out as two of the better first-year players in the WNBA right now, and both project to have a real shot at winning the league’s Rookie of the Year award.

Clark’s defining skill is her ability to score the ball from 3-point range, and she has torched opponents from deep all season. She is averaging 3.0 made 3s per contest so far in the 2024 regular season and is also shooting a respectable 34.3 percent from deep.

Clark is amid a particularly impressive stretch of play in terms of scoring the ball from deep. She has buried four or more 3-pointers in each of her last three games, and she buried four of her 10 shots from 3-point range in the Fever’s most recent game versus the Los Angeles Sparks on Sept. 4.

Conversely, Reese does most of her damage on both ends of the court in the painted area. Plus, her trademark attribute is her penchant for pulling down rebounds.

It’s not hyperbole to claim that Reese is already among the elite rebounders in the WNBA. She is averaging 13.2 rebounds per game across 33 games played with the Sky (all starts) and is especially gifted when it comes to crashing the offensive glass.

Reese is averaging a whopping 5.1 offensive rebounds per contest. Extra possessions can make the difference between a win or a loss in a sport where the winner is often decided by only a few points.

Clark’s Fever and Reese’s Sky faced off against each other for the final time of the season on Aug. 30, and Indiana came out on top in convincing fashion. The Fever won the game by 19 points behind a marvelous showing from Clark, who dropped 31 points as well as 12 assists.

Perhaps Reese’s comments will work to quell any animosity that exists between fans of the two WNBA stars.
