Orlando Magic youngster Wendell Carter Jr. is set to receive a vast contract.

“Orlando is set to lock up Wendell Carter Jr. on a large long-term deal,” wrote Matt Moore of Action Network. “Rival executives believe it will top $70 million.”

Carter, 22, was packed in the Chicago Bulls’ trade to the Magic for Nikola Vucevic last season.

The move appeared to be a breath of fresh air for Carter. While Carter’s sample size with the Magic was tiny last season, he experienced a powerful campaign.

The big man averaged 11.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game in a Magic uniform last season.

However, the Magic concluded the 2020-21 season with a 21-51 record. They finished with the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference.

Nonetheless, the franchise seems to believe Carter is a pivotal part of their future.
