The New York Knicks have instituted an indefinite ban from Madison Square Garden on a fan who they determined spit on Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young on Wednesday night.
The incident took place during the fourth quarter of Wednesday’s game and marked another instance of Young’s interaction with the fans in attendance at Madison Square Garden.
In Sunday night’s Game 1, Young hit the game-winning shot and then mocked the crowd, no doubt raising animosity toward the Hawks guard.
Young became even more prominent among Knicks fans when New York City mayor Bill de Blasio offered comments directed at Young’s push for foul calls.
The Knicks were able to defeat the Hawks, 101-92, to even their series. The two teams now head to Atlanta for the next two contests, with Game 3 set for Friday night.
