Brooklyn Nets superstar forward Kevin Durant sent shock waves through the NBA world on Thursday after he requested a trade from the team.
Many around the league have offered their thoughts about Durant’s decision. Famed journalist Frank Isola recently blasted the 33-year-old.
“He couldn’t be a leader in Brooklyn because he knows a real leader like LeBron [James] would have to challenge Kyrie Irving on a lot of stuff,” Isola said. “… Kevin Durant would rather challenge anonymous people on Twitter.”
It’s definitely a strong statement from Isola. Durant is known to constantly reply to fans on Twitter in sassy and snarky ways.
The Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat are reportedly two of the teams on Durant’s wish list. It would be fascinating to see the two-time champion join either of those squads.
Durant is seemingly interested in playing with Devin Booker or Jimmy Butler. Only time will tell if he ends up getting his wish.
Last season, Durant averaged 29.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game while knocking down 51.8 percent of his shots from the field and 38.3 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc.
The 12-time All-Star is one of the best scorers and players in NBA history. Therefore, whichever team ends up acquiring him will have to part ways with an absurd amount of valuable assets.
Throughout his career, the one-time MVP has averaged 27.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. The team that lands him may become the top contender in the entire league.
Although the current offseason is still young, it has already been a fairly memorable one, and there is still a long way to go before the 2022-23 regular season begins.
