Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant reportedly is recruiting his former teammate Serge Ibaka to Brooklyn.
Ibaka, who has played for the Toronto Raptors the past three and a half seasons, is set to become a free agent this offseason.
According to Forbes’ Mike Mazzeo, Durant has been recruiting his former Oklahoma City Thunder teammate as the NBA’s offseason begins to heat up.
“Kevin Durant has been recruiting close friend Serge Ibaka to join the Brooklyn Nets as a free agent, according to league sources,” Mazzeo wrote.
“Durant and Ibaka forged a strong relationship while playing together in Oklahoma City. But the veteran Ibaka, who made $23.3 million last season, would have to take a significant discount to join the Nets.”
Ibaka has proven to be a solid rim protector in his career. He has also developed an outside shot, as he shot 38.5 percent from 3-point range last season.
Ibaka would provide a veteran presence to the Nets frontcourt along with Durant.
For his career, Ibaka averages 12.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game.
