The Brooklyn Nets have mysteriously been without the services of star Kyrie Irving for the last few games.
Some people who know Irving around the NBA are reportedly concerned for him.
“There are dozens of reporters calling everybody they can think of, trying to get to the bottom of this,” wrote Joe Vardon of The Athletic. “It appears few people inside the NBA know what’s going on with Irving, and the few who probably do (like, Nets officials) aren’t saying. There is real concern throughout the league from people who know him.”
Irving, 28, has been mum about his absence from the court.
One report indicated that the six-time All-Star simply didn’t want to play. Nets head coach Steve Nash has yet to provide the media with a concrete reasoning for Irving’s disappearance.
As a matter of fact, Nash recently admitted that he didn’t have any update on when Irving would return to the floor.
To make matters worse, Irving was seen at a party without a mask amidst a surge in national COVID-19 cases. The league is reportedly looking into the case and could punish the guard.
In addition, the Nets front office is reportedly upset at Irving. The veteran is averaging 27.1 points, 6.1 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game this season.
