Spencer Dinwiddie declares that he’s the best free agent point guard available on the market

Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie will enter free agency once this season ends, with the veteran offering a high opinion of his value in that market.

Dinwiddie is looking elsewhere largely because a return to the Nets would have him coming off the bench for them, given the presence of Kyrie Irving and James Harden in the starting backcourt.

In addition, the type of contract that Dinwiddie will be seeking probably isn’t an amount that the Nets are likely to offer him.

The 28-year-old Dinwiddie saw action in only three games this season before an ACL injury put an end to his 2020-21 campaign. There had been some hope that Dinwiddie might’ve been available to the Nets if they had made the NBA Finals, but that goal ended when the Nets were eliminated.

Using statistics from Dinwiddie’s 2019-20 season, the guard offers an indication that his cockiness can be backed up with results on the court.

Starting 49 of 64 games for the 2019-20 campaign, Dinwiddie averaged 20.6 points, 6.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game.

Dinwiddie’s rapid recovery from the ACL injury shows how much he wants to get back on the court, with some team likely to make him an inviting offer when free agency gets started.
